The leader’s den within the Paletree is cool and dark, the light streaming in in a fanned ray from a split in the tree’s trunk fairly high up. Ivy climbs the walls, and a few sprouts of ferns break up the soil around a nest spot toward the sheltered back. The space within is relatively clear, save for the foliage and moss within it - it has a tranquil air, peaceful even, the goosepen-tree structure providing solace from most any storm.

Like many dens in TimberClan, the medicine cat den itself lies inside the lifted trunk of a lightning-speared redwood. Splintered wood rises into the sky like it ought to tear through the blue. Climbing vines and moss race up twisted and gnarled fox-sized roots, penetrating the wood almost to reclaim it back into the ground. Once-tamed ferns sprout over the entrance to provide some buffer to the elements, brushing against all those who enter. And once entered, the scent of herbs rises, the air sweet and aromatic, fresh and dewy. The dirt that makes the ground is slightly damp and soft, earthy but no fern or moss grows here. Constantly tilled, turned, and stamped. Light filters in through the wood, small but enough to speckle the dirt like the blemishes on fur. Recently, the den is in much disarray given the current leadership, but the echoes of a deliberate organization system remain; fragile herbs and animal products are found at the very back where it is colder, and the dried goods are in immediate proximity. Bare roots of the once-tree make the nests for the sick, as well as storage space for the medicine cat.
