Appearance
A sleek, petite, and battle-scarred dilute tortie she-cat with sunset eyes.
Although Kestrel makes up for her diminutive size with an impressive mind, it does not change the fact that she is mediocre in stature. Born as the runt of her litter, she never quite grew as tall and imposing as the typical Redspire. Her fur is triple coated and feather soft with splatters of a cream orange dappled between smears of ashen gray. It lengthens in her chest and tail, forming a rather regal look when she is properly groomed. Sovereign Kestrel luckily understands the importance of a well-maintained coat, and as such ensures that not a hair is out of place before leaving her nest for the morning. She wears a simple red cloth around her neck, a sign of her familial name and Royal status. The only thing remarkably large about Kestrel are her six-toed paws, and her ears - which are rather tall and scarred from various battles over the years.

With great responsibility, comes a greater understanding that not every little thing in life is of the utmost importance. At least, that's Kestrel's take on the weight of her role within the Court. She's an incredibly laid back cat with an aura of regality to her that has been carefully groomed into her mannerisms since kithood. Within the Court she is a sweet and charming cat who cares for each of her courtmembers as if they were her own kits, but to those outside of her protection she can be incredibly ruthless. Although at one point in her upbringing she did believe in the peace the Realm held, she now thinks it kitten-talk to believe that such a thing could last longer than a few seasons. The knowledge imparted to her from the previous Sovereigns during her crowning ceremony has made her jaded and suspicious of the actions of all. Yet regardless of her own distrust of the other groups, she is still slow to anger or action.

Sovereign Kestrel leads the Court of the Spires as a graceful monarch with patience that rivals the best of the Kittenwards. She has great faith in the Court of Grace and believes staunchly in the Laws of the Court. Through the knowledge based down to her from previous Sovereigns, she has been reformed into the embodiment of the Court. But unfortunately, this knowledge has made her bitter. She believes with all her heart that the groups are locked into a never ending cycle of death and blood, with no way out.

HISTORY:
• [0 moons old] Royal Kestrel of Redspire was born to her mother, Regent Surfperch of Redspire and her father, Royal Ranger Hawk of Redspire (formally of a lesser house). Regent Surfperch was almost 160 moons old when she had Royal Kestrel, and as such she was the only surviving kit with one other stillborn. She was raised to be the next Sovereign from a very young age, as the current Sovereign was quickly aging.
• [6 moons old] Kestrel is named Royal Squire Kestrel of Redspire and completes the plunge. She is assigned a Ranger mentor and a Knight mentor, both of which are cats in their older years who train her well and patiently.
• [15 moons old] At her crossroads ceremony, Sovereign Clover of Redspire, her mother's brother, announces that she will be his heir. She becomes Heir Squire Kestrel of Redspire, but completes her training as a Ranger.
• [17-20 moons old] She graduates, and is named Heir Kestrel of Redspire in her 17th moon. She gains her first scar in the fight it takes to bring down the beaver, a triangular nick in her ear. Although Sovereign Clover seeks to keep her focused on her duties, she falls madly in love with a tom known as Knight Cloud of Ravenspell. Their courtship is a quick one, and they become wovenmates during that Leaffall just before the Crown Festival.
• [21 moons old] A bitter winter brings about the death of the long lived Sovereign Clover of Redspire, and Kestrel must ascend to the throne. The crowning ceremony comes with it's pains, and the newly named Sovereign Kestrel of Redspire returns with severe headaches, and a quickly changing personality. She is no longer the cat she was before, after seeing the history of the Court through the eyes of the Sovereigns.
• [24-26 moons old] Sovereign Kestrel becomes pregnant. The added stress of being a new sovereign paired with the pregnancy leads to many complications. Eventually she is forced to remain in the Royal Wing until the kits are born, and of the three kits she births, only one lives.
• [27-35 moons old] She is fiercely protective of her single kit, and goes to great lengths to ensure it's safety and that it's upbringing is of the highest quality. But ultimately, who she thought would one day be her heir rejects the life of the Court. They threaten to leave the Court if made into Heir, and Sovereign Kestrel is forced to watch her firstborn carve their own path in life where she had to obediently follow.
• [57 moons old] A group of rogues attempts to steal from the Court during a particularly harsh winter. Although Sovereign Kestrel tries for peace with the group at first, it becomes clear they want nothing to do with peace when they kill another cat in one of their attacks. The cat killed is Sovereign Kestrel's mate, Royal Knight Cloud of Redspire. What little remained of the spunky young cat who began this journey dies with her mate, leaving behind a husk of a cat with one goal in life - keep the rest of her Court alive and happy, regardless of the cost.
• [71-73 moons old] The following leafbare, Sovereign Kestrel begins to show - finally pregnant again. She does not tell any other cat who the parent is, only that it does not matter. She gives birth to a single kit that is the spitting image of herself. She names her Urchin of Redspire. With Urchin she is the polar opposite of how she was with her first kit. She is kind, compassionate, and allows Urchin room to grow and fail where there is no threat of death.
• [88 moons old] At Urchin's Crossroads ceremony, Sovereign Kestrel names her as her heir.
• [90 moons old] With pride, Sovereign Kestrel names Heir Squire Urchin of Redspire to simply Heir Urchin.
