Appearance

Cardinal, despite his long and thick fur, is rather average-sized, if not on the smaller side for a tom his age. His pelt is a shining golden, nearly a deep copper along his spine where it begins. It's interspersed by a golden-black classic tabby pattern, lightening up along his chest, legs, and tail to an off-white. His tail plumes white into a black tip, the longest fur along his body besides his face and neck, which brings a round feature to his face. Around his eyes and mouth, his fur is a solid white, separating his features from the darkness of his tabby stripes.

Personality

Cardinal has always been an easy-going and approachable tom. He dislikes conflict and friction, yet speaks to even those he may not get along with simply because he loves to make conversation. Some may think he is rather aloof and unserious about his position and duties within the Court, this isn't the case. Cardinal does take his work seriously and pushes himself to be not only an effective Ranger, but an outstanding one like his grandfather. It's not all work and no play though, as he also loves to have the occasional casual chat on a patrol or a bout of playful sparring.
Like his father is, Cardinal strives to be a trustworthy friend and figure, a shoulder to cry on, and an everlasting loyal Courtier and tom. Politeness and tact are of utmost importance to him, but he doesn't take it personally when he's not shown it. Forgiveness is a virtue, after all.
Though Cardinal is outgoing, his internal struggles are kept to himself so his image isn't compromised. Because of his strict upbringing from both his father and his mentors growing up, he struggles with his self-confidence. No matter how he performs, he feels it isn't good enough, and is hard on himself. He rarely accepts praise and brushes it off because he doesn't believe in it. He can accept imperfection in others, but not himself. Their namesake is new, and he hopes not to screw things up for his father's sake and his own.
So while he is a friend to all, to very few is he deeply open. Holding everything back makes him withdrawn at times, almost despondent. In these moods, he's prone to lashing out, but tends to isolate himself as he's aware of the issue.

PLOT INTEGRATION:
The Foxfled namesake descends from Cardinal's biological grandfather. He joined the clan as a youngling with no namesake, and went through the majority of his warriorhood without one. One year during leaf-fall, a fox had found its way onto the Court's territory and was terrorizing cats to no end. It was an elusive thing, and the den's location was a mystery. One night, Trout smelled the fox lurking about the Court, and as it retreated, he followed. He tracked the fox unnoticed through creek, brush and fallen trees, several kilometers into the desolate forest. Its den was found. Trout singlehandedly assaulted the fox and returned with a piece of ear, effectively ending its reign of terror on the Court. For his heroics, Trout earned the namesake Foxfled.
Now, for the present day. Cardinal finds the presence of the other communities more interesting than threatening. For him, the Court has been around for such a long time he doesn't see the Clans as threats so long as they keep their wits about them and don't provoke violence, so he wasn't all that pleased with their alleged assassination of Goldenstar. He cares more about how his own community is doing than politicking, but if need be will stand by the safety of his friends and family.
For now, he's mostly concerned about not disappointing his father and carrying on the Foxfled namesake.
